About the event

Join us for a thrilling night of film noir with The Hitch-hiker!

Are you a fan of suspense, crime, and dark drama? Do you enjoy watching classic movies from the golden age of Hollywood? If so, you won’t want to miss our next virtual screening event on March 7th at 8:00 PM!

We will be watching The Hitch-hiker, a 1953 film noir thriller co-written and directed by Ida Lupino, one of the first female directors in American cinema. The film stars Edmond O’Brien, Frank Lovejoy, and William Talman as two friends on a fishing trip who pick up a psychopathic escaped convict who forces them to drive him across the Mexican desert. The Hitch-hiker is based on the true story of Billy Cook, a notorious serial killer who terrorized the highways in the early 1950s. The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”

We will be watching the film on Kosmi, a free online platform that lets you watch videos together and chat with other viewers in real time. All you need is a web browser and an internet connection. No downloads or sign-ups required. Just click on this link to join the screening room:

Don’t miss this opportunity to watch a masterpiece of film noir with fellow cinephiles and discuss the film as it unfolds. Invite your friends and family to join the fun. We hope to see you there!
